Welcome to the Carmel Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 4444 Website! Local 4444 is a labor organization that represents firefighters, paramedics and officers employed by the Carmel Fire Department with a total of 149 members (145 active, 2 retired active and 2 firefighters that are in the military). The Carmel Fire Department is a paid municipal department comprised of sworn/uniformed personnel (9 of whom are sworn/administrative staff members). In addition, the department has 8 full-time and 2 part-time civilian/administrative staff members. The Department serves a jurisdiction of more than 51 square miles and an estimated City/Township population of more than 64,000.

Our commitment to our craft, along with our Carmel/Clay leaders, ensure that our education/ training programs and the necessary equipment are provided to our professional personnel allowing us to perform fire suppression, emergency medical services, hazardous material remediation and mitigation, fire prevention and many other important community and departmental services… second to none.

We are dedicated to the protection of life, property and the environment for those citizens who live, work, visit or invest in our community, while simultaneously protecting the health, safety and financial security of all of our members and our members’ families.

March 12, 2010 – Michigan Professional Fire Fighters Union (MPFFU) President Paul Hufnagel has been elected IAFF 8th District Vice President.
